Elmeco builds frozen beverage machines for bars, cafés, hotels and restaurants, used for granita, slush, cold creams, frozen cocktails, sorbets and chilled soft drinks. Salvatore Cortese founded the business in 1961 after developing Royal, the first visual slush machine, in his Naples workshop, and the Cortese family still runs it from Casandrino, near Naples. Current models include First Class with up to three bowls, Big Biz, the compact B Large, Be Coffee for pure black coffee granita and Matrix, a connected self-service dispenser. Since 2020 every machine has used R290 propane refrigerant, and front panels can carry a venue's own branding. Distribution centres in the United States and India serve overseas customers.
